Brown Hound Delights

There is a little coffee shop / wine bar situated in drogheda called Brown Hound Bakery.

It is and I quote ; "A lovely place to meet friends, enjoy great wines & savour small plates of cheese, pâté, olives etc or just stop by for coffee and cake"

Myself and my fiancé popped in for the first time today and absolutely loved it!
It's so quirky and the food is amazing. Specialising in the most unusual cakes I have ever seen, and the most succulent cakes I have ever tasted. We started with a sandwich made from a Parmesan and chive scone with four different fillings and is individually wrapped. I almost didn't want to open it! And then I had a mini cake version of the Brown Hound cake and it was to die for, my fiancé is not one for desserts but he loved it too.
The price is not too steep, for under €20 we had a lovely little lunch.

The place is decorated in an unusual way in that none of the furniture matches. The ambiance the owners have created is eclectic. We have vintage tables, a country coffee bar and Bob Marley music and it all works so well together!

All in all it is well worth a visit and we will definately be making a return visit.

Nail biting no more

I'm a major nail biter, I gave up for a year and then this April, I think, I started biting my nails again. I hate it and really want to stop again. I was so proud of my nails when I let them grow long so i decided to write a blog to hopefully give me the kickstart to stop again.

I bought this Sally Hansen, Hard As Wraps Acrylic Wrap polish in tesco for €7.22 and put one layer on my nails. I'm hoping that it's like a hard barrier on my nails to stop me biting the layers off them. Nail polish never really works for me as I bite it straight off. So fingers crossed it works, and I will be able to post pics of my lovely long nails.

Never neverland

Not sure if it's just me or if anyone else feels like never growing up!
This year I'm taking some major grown up steps in my life. I got engaged to my partner of six years this year and we are preparing to get married next summer so there's alot of chat about weddings going on around here.
We are also in the process of buying a little house too. Myself and my mum have been buying all the necessities for the house like bath towels, drinking glasses etc and a few days ago my little brother comment how funny it was that I got so excited about buying towels lol. Agh I'm gettin old!!!!
I'm spending money on all this house stuff instead of having a spending spree on some wardrobe updates. Boo hoo

Bargain Buys

Bargain Buys

Time for a new post so I've created my new Bargain Buys Post.

I love a Bargain. Especially when I can find something that I love for a
cheaper price. We all know there's a recession out there so I decided to look for some alternative buys that are easier on the pocket! I love Topshop, their clothes are fabulous but always so expensive. So I tried to find similar stock for a better price and www.Boohoo.com is my new guilty pleasure. They have amazing styles and prices to match!

Topshop dip back hem dress                                    boohoo dip back hem dress
                         €49                                                                          €26

This dress is amazing for the summer time, you can dress it up with some chunky statement jewellery, and even add a thin belt to accentuate the waist even more. You could also wear it to the beach with cute flip flops and don't forget a stunning wide brimmed beach hat...so chic!

Topshop scalloped vest                                                   boohoo scalloped vest
                     €19                                                                                    €12

These tops are fantastic with a pair of jeans or leather look leggings, they are so versatile. They add a little bit of glamour with the scallop cut design so its not just a plain vest.

           Topshop Blazer                                                          boohoo blazer
                 €79                                                                             €30

Coloured blazers are the way to go this spring, especially here in Ireland where we are not blessed with L.A. weather but on the random days when the sun is shining, at least a blazer will still keep you from freezing yourself while looking amazing!

These are a few of the styles I came across during my browsing.
It's only coincidence that I chose all red items but some of them come in different colours if red doesn't appeal to you.
I will keep a look out for more Bargain Buys
Until then See you guys, much love xxx

Mother's Day Gift Ideas

Well Mother's Day has arrived and I thought I would write about different gifts you could get your mum in a million!
My Favourite presents are the sentimental ones and they almost always don't cost a lot of money, but the time and effort that myself and my brothers put into them, mean the world to my Mum.

My Mum is the most amazing woman I know.
The best way to describe her is a 'Burnt Toast' mother.
That doesn't mean what it says literally, but what it means in a broader sense is: she's the kinda Mum that if she made toast and one of the pieces was more burnt than the others she would be the mum that eats the burnt one and gives the better ones to her children. (That took quite a while for me to describe that as best I could!)
We have such a close relationship probably because I'm her only girl, so we are like best friends which means that we have our ups and downs but very few downs : )
She is so inspirational to me and I look at her and I hope that when I have kids someday, please god, that I will be the mother that she was to us. Sometimes it scares me, because I don't know if I can be, but they say us girls, we grow into our mothers, so hopefully that's true!

I have included some pics of previous presents that myself and my two brothers have given to Mum for Mother's Day.

MEMORY BOOK

We bought this notebook in waterstones last year and then my brothers and I wrote in memories that we have of mum and the funny things she has done in the past. On some of the pages we found some little poems and stories and decorated the oages with them. It's still a working progress because we can always write in it and mum can write what she would like.

SONG LYRICS

These are the lyrics of 'Mama' From IL DIVO. You can take any lyrics that mean something to you and your Mum. The words of this song mean so much to me when I hear them, so we printed them out, painted the background page and stuck them together. We got the frame in a little pound shop. These frames are great for anything you have made yourself because it shows it off the best in my opinion. The important thing is the gift not an expensive frame taking away from the meaning.

POEMS

The above poem we found, and again it resonated with us so we printed the words and then stuck a little photo of us at the bottom.
Below is a poem that I made up, it took a while but eventually I was happy with it and I found that beautiful picture in a book of angels that I have. When it was done my brothers added their own messages to it and it became a collaboration of all our work.

Above are most of the ideas that we have come up with and as you can see they dont cost alot of money but our Mum has loved each and everyone of them and they all have pride of place on her wall, well except for her book, she couldn't hang that up!
It might be a little late for this Mother's Day but maybe next year you can give your Mum a gift that tells her just how much she is loved.
We can never Say 'I LOVE YOU' too much, especially to our MUM's

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY 2012
TO OUR WONDERFUL MOTHER

Argan Oil Review

My hair is naturally curly, well fuzzy most of the time if I dont style it! Don't get me wrong I love my curls but I just need something that will help moisturize my hair more so it doesn't look so dry when it's curly.
I read an article about Argan Oil recently and have been looking forward to trying it out. So I went to my local BOOTS shop and purchased this bottle for around €18.
This is a bit on the expensive side but if it works then I will delighted.

You need about 2-3 pumps of product for medium length hair and run it throught the ends of towel dried hair. By towel dried I mean pat your hair with the towel to get excess water out but DO NOT rub your hair with a towel as the friction will damage your hair so much. (This is such a pet hate I have when people do my hair! ) Then style as usual and your hair should feel like silk when your finished.

I have only used this product twice and both times I used it my hair feels so soft and there is very little knots to brush through too. I'm gonna continue with this treatment and will probably update my blog when the bottle is finished with my conclusive results. However at the moment its safe to say this product gets the thumbs up from me.

On The Edge- Ireland newest harmony vocal group

Last night on the 8th of march I went to see On The Edge- Ireland's newest vocal harmony group.
They are Niall Quinn, Carl Mulvey, Pio Valentino Borza, Barry Bishop and Darren Caffrey.
They are five hardworking and very talented guys. Their sound is inspired by The Overtones and The Script to name a few but they are so unique with their sound. You have to see these guys live, doing what they love to do.
The gig was in The Academy on Abbey st. in Dublin. It was phenomenal! My little brother is in the band and he even surprised us last night with his vocals. He made us all very proud : ) I was grinning like a Cheshire cat every time he opened his mouth.

Take a look at their Facebook profile and have a listen to their stuff. Click HERE
